Ah, yes, it’s that time of year again! Holiday shopping time of year. Below I’ve got seven unique plant-related gift ideas for any budget.
I’ve also made a video so you can see all of these gift ideas in action. Not to toot my own horn, but I’ve been told I’m a great gift giver (toot toot), so I have a prettyyyyy strong feeling you’ll find gift inspiration from this post!
1. Bendable moss pole
A moss pole is a staple item in any houseplant lover’s arsenal…but a BENDABLE ONE?! Now that’s cool. I’m obsessed with house my philodendron micans looks on on these poles.

2. Unique terrarium
Terrariums are works of art. Any terrarium lover will appreciate a gorgeous piece like this. However, you don’t even need to give this to someone with the expectation that they’ll make a terrarium out of it—this is also a simple yet gorgeous way to display a small potted plant.

If you do want to make a terrarium as a gift, check out my post on 10 closed terrarium plants.
3. Paper pot press
These pot presses are technically geared toward outdoor gardeners, but I’ve been using mine to make little pots for propagating cuttings!
It’s the perfect solution for that friend who likes to propagate so they don’t have to keep buying little containers and pots. Also, I’ve been using the packing paper that this shipped in to make the pots!

4. Terra cotta frog
I saw this terra cotta frog (which is a tool used in floral arrangements—did not know this at first) and immediately thought propagation station! It’s such a cool way to display cuttings and would make a really unique centerpiece as well.

5. House Plant Box subscription box
I’ve gotten subscription boxes for friends as gifts in the past and it’s always been a gift winner! Subscription boxes are great because they know something fun is on the way and it’s kind of like giving a gift twice when their box arrives.
You don’t need to gift someone with some crazy yearlong subscription—they’ll appreciate just a one-month box! I got a beautiful, healthy crocodile fern in my first House Plant Box.

6. Tropical Houseplant Seed subscription box
OK, I didn’t intend to have two subscription boxes on this list, but houseplant SEEDS? How cool?! Your friend who has a million plants already doesn’t necessarily need another plant.
I’m 99% sure that this friend of yours has never grown houseplants from seeds before because, I mean, that’s really not something many people do! They’ll appreciate your creative idea and having a new fun planty project to do.
I’m currently growing olive tree seeds that came in my first Tropical Houseplant Seed box!

7. Go to the dollar store, secondhand store, or somewhere inexpensive and use your imagination
I know this one is a little vague, BUT it’s inexpesive and thoughtful. For example, below is a fun teapot I got at Goodwill and a cheap plant from a big box store. How cute is that?
